IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) and how i survived

Do you know what Irritable bowel syndrome is? Well, let me tell you more about it! It is a common disorder that affects the digestive system, more specifically the large intestine. It has no cure, so it is a chronic condition that needs to be monitored and treated all your life.

I am sure you are asking why I know all of this information and why I am sharing them with you. Well because I am already suffering from IBS, which is the Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I was diagnosed 3 years ago with this disorder, and now I have to cope with it and live my life while taking care of myself and paying attention to avoid any triggers that might affect my case.

And do you know what is the most critical trigger of IBS? It is stress! Can you imagine how hard it is to manage stress all the time? I actually learned how to do this, but I still need a lot of practice, that is why I am seeing a psychologist now to help me reduce stress, so I can avoid any complications related to IBS.

When I first started feeling the pain in my abdomen, I thought it might be caused by some food, but when things got worse, I had to consult a gastroenterologist to help me diagnose my case and treated it.

When I went to see the doctor in Novomed Dubai, she asked me about my symptoms, so I told her that I was feeling pain in my stomach, has excess gas, sometimes diarrhea, and noticed some mucus in the stool. And later on, I suddenly started to lose weight, although I am not doing any diet.

So she asked me to do some medical tests to diagnose my case, so I did a stool test, lactose intolerance test, breath test, and a CT scan. When I gave her the results, she checked them and told me that I am suffering from IBS. And then she explained to me that there is no cure, but I have to do some lifestyle changes and reduce stress. She also advised me to avoid some foods that trigger my symptoms, eat a lot of food rich in fiber, and gluten, and drink a lot of water, in addition, to exercising regularly.

Also, she advised me to consult a dietitian who can help me with my diet.

I am very grateful for Novomed because they helped me a lot, and thanks to their gastroenterologist, I am enjoying a healthy pain-free life.
