A general guide on how to train Runecrafting.
Leveling up skills in Old School RuneScape can be a huge grind. Trying to grind out these skills is like having another full-time job. It is going to be long, tedious, and mundane. Most people who have been playing Old School RuneScape have probably already accepted this reality, this is just how the game works. However, there is one particular skill that gives people a massive headache because of how difficult it is to level. And that skill is Runecraft, it is also known as Runecrafting.
Runecrafting is one of the slowest skills to level up. It requires the grinding of multiple materials and rewards the players with low experience per hour. Players will usually level this last or prefer to focus on it at all. Because of this, Runecrafting is a lucrative skill to have. If you stand the grind and max out Runecrafting, you will be able to make a good amount of OSRS gold.
Are you ready to start the Runecraft grind? If so, then let’s jump straight into the guide.
What Is Runecrafting?
Runecrafting is a skill that allows players to make runes using essence for Magic spells and other items. There are a lot of different types of runes and essences to collect. Some are much rarer to find than others. Players who have a subscription also have the added benefit of using rare runes.
Players will need to collect essences to create these runes. Crafting these runes allows the player to use those runes for certain spells or items like magic-coated arrows. Most essences are mined from certain areas or dropped from monsters.
To turn essences into runes, players will need to locate an altar. Altars are usually located in Mysterious Ruins. However, you can only access the ruins, and the alter if you have the specified talisman, tiara, or runecraft cape. Members can also combine runes to create a new one. For example, an Earth Rune and a Fire Rune can be combined to make a Lava Rune. These runes are needed to create even better items or use for spells.
Runecrafting is a fantastic skill to level up because of how much OSRS gold you can make from it. With so many different runes and how hard they can be to obtain, many players are willing to spend a lot of OSRS GP for them.
Runecrafting Recommended Quests
Before we get into the leveling process, there are some other necessary bits to note. There are numerous quests that either give Runecraft experience or quests that will reward you with an item to add experience to one of your skills. Considering it takes Runecrafting a while to level up, it is best to use it on this skill instead.
Here are a few quests that offer experience or an experience granting item:
- The Ascent of Arceuus
- Enter the Abyss
- The Slug Menace
- One Small Favor
- A Kingdom Divided
Runecraft Training Guide
The following general training guide is based on if you are a paying member. Free players have an entirely different method. Even if you are a free player, you might still be able to learn a thing or two. Before we start, there are multiple paths you can take when leveling Runecraft, so feel free to mix and match to suit your playstyle and time availability.
Levels 1–32: Quests
Earlier I shared some useful quests for leveling up Runecraft; the same applies here. If you prefer to complete quests instead of crafting at lower levels, then it is a great option. You will need to complete the following quests to reach level 32 in Runecraft:
- Enter the Abyss
- The Ascent of Arceuus
- The Eyes of Glouphrie
- Temple of the Eye
Levels 32–99: Guardians of the Rift
After completing the quests mentioned above and reaching level 32 in Runecrafting, you can start doing the Guardians of the Rift for a good amount of experience. Guardians of the Rift is a recently added minigame that is also probably the most “fun” way of leveling Runecraft. You will also gain some experience in Mining.
Levels 32–99: Lava runes
This method involves crafting Lava Runes which is one of the faster ways to level up Runecraft. You will need multiple items for this method. The only necessary items are the tiara and runes. Everything else is only needed if you want to increase your experience per hour.
- Elemental Tiara
- Earth Runes
- Fire Runes or Tome of Fire
- Essences Pouches
- Dueling Ring
Levels 77–90: Blood Runes
You can continue to level Lava Runes or switch to Blood Runes at level 77. This crafting method offers less experience per hour compared to crafting Lava Runes, but it does have better OSRS gold per hour. So depending on if you are looking to level faster or gain more money, then this may or may not be the best option.
However, you will have a few requirements to meet:
- 100% Arceuus favor
- Chisel
- Pickaxe
Levels 90–99: Soul Runes
Soul Runes will be the next task once you hit level 90. Soul Rune crafting gives more experience per hour but isn’t as profitable as Blood Runes. When it comes to which method gives the most experience, it is best to stick with Lava Runes. But if you trying to make money as well, then Blood Runes will be the way to go.
Conclusion
In short, Runecraft, aka Runecrafting, is a time-consuming skill to level up. However, it offers plenty of benefits. It allows you to create a large number of runes to use for spells, making this very important for magic users. Also, most people don’t have Runecrafting leveled, making this a highly in-demand skill. By selling high-level runes to others, you can make large amounts of OSRS gold in the process. The guide above should help with making the process easier and more streamlined.
